Man, it would've been awesome if I recorded the Oratorio rehearsal...

Mr. Paul Salamunovich

Boy, I didn't know how big of a deal he was until I googled him this morning. He is such an amazing conductor and just inspiring. He gave me a whole new perspective on Durufle's Requiem aka more than 25 pages of music containing 9 movements. We've been working on this piece of music this whole semester and honestly I started to get less excited about it as rehearsed and rehearsed... until he started to work with us. He's so funny! I thought he'd be really intimidating as Sutton described him to be but he was like a grandpa! I mean, of course he is a grandpa but he most certainly didn't just treat us like students... he really connected with us; man i don't know how to put into words! gah! He really helped us connect with the music better!

just some of the things I just had to quote him on:

he points to his eye
"This is your camera... some of you have bad film"

Women sings, "Christe, Christe."
Men sings, "Kyrie..."
"Open those throats and vomit!"

"Throw up, so you don't die... frankly on your vomit."

I guess it's one of those 'you had to be there' moments.
I'm kinda excited to perform the requiem with him now.
I hope we do the song justice! eek, it's in less than 2 weeks!
that means 3 more rehearsals, dude!
