Hayao Miyazaki

He's by far the best filmmaker/director/artist/story writer EVER.

I'm such a huge fan of his work and I'm on a mission:

and that's to watch ALL his movies.

that's right, it might be impossible but I have a lifetime to watch all his work.

if you haven't seen Spirited Away, that's the first movie that you should watch because you'll get hooked. Man, this dude is adorably cute. he has the thickest black eyebrows I have ever seen and these huge squarish black-rimmed glasses. it's official... I'm a BIG ANIME NERD B]

well, I wouldn't label his work to be anime... it was never manga to begin with and his work is just pure genius and none other that I have ever seen.

I'm a sucker for romance/comedy and even sappy cheesy gushy filipino chick flicks... but even if you hate those kind of movies... the romance in his films are like none other. it's not even romance! it's more of adventure but there's still the element of love and youth. it's more innocent and friendship-kind of love. there's no love scenes or lust or any of what we see here in the U.S. this is one of the big things that I love about this guy... he just captures that joy and at the same time, love but in its purest form.

another element that just grabs my attention are his characters. it's probably the first thing you notice because they're pretty bizarre. some are even grotesque that you don't even want to look at them. I love them all! haha I couldn't stop commenting on how ugly some of the characters were. some of the characters are so cute (like Ponyo... I couldn't stop gushing about them all!) I really couldn't help but squeal and go "AWWW!" you might not become a huge fan of his movies, but at least watch one or two of his work. IT'S TOO DARN GOOD TO PASS UP!

and yes I'm one of those kids who likes to watch the special features and who are interested in the people who do the voice overs and how they created the film and whatnot. I'm just so into it! you film majors are lucky and very fortunate to study in this field. it must be very fun!

anyways, I'm gonna watch Kiki's Delivery Service tomorrow (hopefully)... I'm most likely going to work sooo it's gonna be tomorrow eveningish.
