you shouldn't fear the foreign places. I must say that I understand where you're coming from because I've been to the Philippines and I get dirty looks from the natives because they instantly know I'm from the states even when I don't say anything! But that was from my first visit to my parents' home country. I hope you change your mind about visiting your parents' home country. Think of it as a traveling experience. I know you like to travel and explore... and just have an adventure! you can't stay in walnut forever. I mean, I was already tired of it after graduation! it's good to experience something new. don't close your mind to the idea of visiting that country again. if it scares you so much to even live there, don't think about that until you visit.
friend, you're better than what you think you're capable of. you gotta get out of here. yes, you shouldn't take the things that you have here for granted but you can't be too comfortable. i know you've experienced a lot of "things" but there's more out there! I guess you wouldn't understand as someone who doesn't walk with God.
I'm speaking for myself as well because the thing with studying abroad has come up for me a few times this semester. I don't think I'm ready until maybe my junior year. I'm even considering on transferring. who knows? if it's God's plan and in His will, I'll go for it.
Please pray for me
even a one sentence prayer is enough
